Development and new trends in the care for people with mental illness Abstract: The aim of my bachelor's thesis is to capture developments and new trends in the care for people with mental illnesses. In the introduction, I briefly specify the concept of mental illness and set the division of mental illnesses. Several selected diagnoses of mental illnesses, which are described here are based on professional literature, practical experience and available health statistics. The following is a description of the development of care for people with mental illnesses. From Ancient Times to the Middle Ages, society explained the existence of mental illnesses in humans as the action of supernatural forces. The care for people with mental illnesses was merely an exception during these historical periods. The situation of people with mental illnesses improved during the period of Enlightenment. With the development of medical science, society came to the conclusion that mental illnesses were caused by brain diseases. Psychiatry became a field of science with the first successful therapy treatments. Treatment began to be concentrated in mental institutions, later in psychiatric hospitals. The current practice of community outreach teams for people with severe mental illness

Community mental health teams common in many countries with developed community mental health care have been slowly advancing in recent years. It is expected that this trend will continue to grow with the reform of psychiatric care. The diploma thesis focuses on community mental health teams for the target group of people with severe mental illness, which are one of the basic pillars of mental health care abroad. The theoretical part describes the activities of these teams in the context of community mental health care and also presents these teams mainly in terms of their composition and way of work. The research part analyzes the current situation of four specific teams in terms of multidisciplinary composition and team cooperation, describes and interprets some of the specific difficulties that these services face in the beginning of multidisciplinary teamwork and captures some specific moments of their functioning. Utilizing a qualitative approach through in-depth interviews with team leaders and their founding organizations has enabled them to convey the specific context of these teams and at least partially capture the dynamics of their current state and development. In my thesis I am going to focus on one of the areas of community care for people with mental illness and thus on the area of employment. The main focus of the thesis is on a description of current situation in the provision of the employment support for people with mental illness. The focus is also on the formulation of the specifics of the Employment Support Program for people with mental illness. Another part of my thesis contains empirical investigations focusing on the sustainability and the perspective of the Employment Support Program for people with mental illness. The bachelor thesis is concerning problems of social work with mentally ill people. The theoretical section of the thesis is divided into two subsections. The first subsection is describing particular mental illnesses according to MKN - 10, their subdivisions, manifestation, and progression. The second subsection introduces social work with target group of mentally ill people. There were developed two main research questions. What role and activity must perform social worker in mentally ill people's care? What problems mentally ill people must deal with in social and health lives? There were outlined six research sub questions: What health problems must mentally ill people deal with? What personal problems must mentally ill people solve in their lives? What problems must mentally ill people solve in their family lives? What problems must mentally ill people solve when entering job market? What financial problems must mentally ill people solve? What kind of social problems must mentally ill people deal with?

The work is concerned about Evaluation of effectiveness of social services in civic association Fokus Tábor. It consists of two parts-theoretical and practical. There are two chapters in the theoretical part. In the first chapter I try to outline all issues of people with mental illnesses and in the second one I deal with social services and their evaluation. Practical part is based on results of quantitative research and its interpretation. The aim of my reseach is to find out whether social services of Fokus Tábor are perceived as effective from the viewpoint of users and workers.
